Very best of luck to Biffy and Rachel from the 3rd of August at Swailcliffe, and thank you to every-one for making the Horse Trials day such a success for all.

Leg Anatomy Evening

On Wednesday 25th April, The George Vet Groups Equine Vets Angela Jones and Ben Wilson provided a fascinating evening for members involving leg anatomy and dissection. They were both thanked enormously for giving up their time to come and demonstrate for us.

We were set up with specimens provided and instructed how to inject fluid into joint cavities and spaces, so that on skinning the limbs you could really appreciate how close to the surface these important structures were. Members were then instructed on how to dissect the Tendons, identify ligaments and bony structures. Comparisons were then be made between limbs and injuries identified.

In true riding club spirit not to be deterred members then enjoyed a pizza feast and social gathering.

What this space for future talks and demonstrations - if you missed this one but would like me to book another date - I can do so if I get enough interest :-)

Jonty Evans Training

Training with International Eventer Jonty Evans was secured for Sunday 11th March at Rectory Farm. Jonty has been eventing internationally for over 20yrs, he finished 9th Individual at the 2016 Rio Olympics on Cooley Rorkes Drift, and was part of the Nations Cup winning team and 8th Individual representing Ireland in Boekelo. He also has a selection of young horses he's bringing up through the levels. When not competing Jonty also does a lot of teaching from Novice horse and rider up to 4*.

In response to his campaign last Autumn to fund raise and keep Cooley Rorkes Drift, the VWH Committee took the decision to make a donation from Club funds and in return secured some training and a fabulous time was had by all.

In addition to the training, Jonty then gave a fabulous talk at the RC AGM on 4th April in Cirencester that was very much enjoyed. Giving a real in site to all the preparation, training and travel involved with getting them to Rio 2016 and life since with the campaign to keep Art and what hopefully lies ahead in the future.
